MATCH PREVIEW | Reserves clash with Saints this Thursday

Round three of the Reserves season pits Leeds Rhinos up against St Helens Reserves at Stanningley on Thursday night as Chev Walker's side look to secure their third consecutive win of the campaign, kick off 7pm.
A great second half performance against the Giants saw five tries from the Rhinos secure a 32-14 win to add to their opening day triumph against Leigh Leopards. Now looking ahead to a stern test against St Helens, Walker's side look to round out the month with three wins, before heading on the road to Bradford and Hull FC in April.
Since the Reserves competition returned in 2022, both Leeds asecond-halfnd Saints have one win each and a draw in the last three meetings. Saints walked away from the Totally Wicked Stadium with a convincing win back in 2022, but the Rhinos rallied in 2023 when Tony Smith's side drew 22-22 in the side's last meeting at Stanningley and secured a win in 2024 thanks to tries from Jack Sinfield, Ned McCormack, Riley Lumb, Tom Nicholson-Watton and Harrison Gilmore.

Ian Talbot's St Helens Reserves have been handed a tough start to their 2025 campaign after finishing as competition Champions in 2024. Opening the year with a home clash with Hull KR, Ian Talbot's Saints fell to a 28-16 defeat at the hands of the Robins despite tries from Jake Burns and two from Dayon Sambou ahead of the centre's Super League debut. They got the opportunity to bounce back a week later against Wigan in a repeat of last year's Reserves Grand Final, and once again the Red Vee came out on top in a dramatic 25-24 win. Half back George Whitby scored the crucial try with ten minutes remaining to keep the game in the balance, before the Blackbrook junior added a drop goal to secure victory despite Jacob Douglas' try two minutes from full time for the Warriors.
Now a third of the way into their 2025 season, the next month sees Saints take on Leeds and Warrington on the road, plus a home clash with Wakefield is sandwiched in-between. At the start of May, the rematch with Wigan awaits at the halfway point.
